      <description><![CDATA[The headlines say sales are down. Listings are cautious. Prices have softened year over year. None of that surprises me. What does matter is what sits beneath the numbers. Inventory is building, but sellers aren&rsquo;t rushing. In my experience, that&rsquo;s not a crisis but a positioning. Markets like this reward preparation, patience, and strategy. Buyers have room to negotiate. Sellers who price properly and present thier homes well are still moving. Spring will tell us more, but right now we&rsquo;re in what I&rsquo;d call an opportunistic window with less noise and more leverage. Good decisions win the day. Aggregate home prices softened both year over year and quarter over quarter, with detached homes experiencing the greatest pressure, while condominiums and attached properties showed comparatively stronger resilience. Sales activity slowed across all segments as many buyers remained cautious amid ongoing economic uncertainty. However, early indications suggest buyer interest is beginning to re-emerge as interest rates stabilize and market conditions become clearer heading into the new year.<br><br>Forecast In December, Royal LePage issued its 2026 Market Survey Forecast, projecting that the aggregate price of a home in Canada will increase a modest 1.0 percent in the fourth quarter of 2026, compared to the same quarter in 2025. The median price of a single-family detached property is expected to increase 2.0 percent, while the median price of a condominium is anticipated to decrease 2.5 per cent.<br><br></p>
